Diagnoses, treatment, surgery, remission and reconstruction. Life before a diagnose and life after remission, two parallel universes that we are forced to reconcile with. Once healthy and invincible we now are vulnerable and dependent upon those around us for our basic needs. We worry about our future, the impact on our children and the affects on our physical body. Remission is a word we look forward to with both dread and optimism, knowing that the journey will be far from over. We will always be a cancer survivor and that fact will push us forward and haunt us the remainder of our lives. We live in a state of celebration and fear that our illness will return one day, we live between two places.
